Summer Camp
There are many local summer camps in Pittsburgh, ranging from STEM to language camps to the more traditional camps. Check out our local summer camp guide to find the camp for your kids.
Summer Movies
Many Pittsburgh theaters offer discounted or free morning showings of second-run children’s movies. This is a great way to get the kids out of the house on a hot day, and not have to chase them around. For those that prefer an outdoor movie setting, there are plenty of evening movie events as well!
AMC Summer Movie Camp: Tickets are $3+tax and shows are on Mondays and Wednesdays.
GQT Summer Flicks: Running June 5 through August 8. Tickets are FREE, but first-come, first-served. Showings are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m.
Movie Scoop Summer Movies: Movie Scoop is offering summer movies at their area theaters. Tickets are $2, and they also have a $3 kids combo for the showings that include a drink and popcorn. Showings are at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Be sure to check their site to see the showings for your local Movie Scoop location. Locations include Cranberry, Waterworks, Moraine Pointe/Butler, Kent Plaza, and Indiana Mall.
Row House Cinemas Movies on the Lawn: Enjoy free family movies on the lawn in Hazelwood and hosted by Row House Cinemas. Showings include free popcorn and fun events, like a hula hoop contest and food trucks.
Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park: Enjoy outdoor films at local parks.
Summer Reading Programs and Library Events
Check your local library to sign up for a summer reading program. This is a great way to get the kids excited about reading. Bonus? Many libraries have events scheduled throughout the summer to go with the summer reading theme. There are also adult summer reading opportunities, so you can all read together!
